Happy Holidays! Time to eat, drink and be merry! We headed to the heart of downtown Burlington - Buvette in Village Square - for our annual ladies' Christmas dinner. This restaurant is in walking distance to the lake. It's also close to many bars and there is ample parking in the area. We had a late reservation since we went with a large group. You absolutely need a reservation because it does get extremely busy. There is a definite bar vibe late night at this restaurant. There are two levels and we sat upstairs so we had a beautiful view of the downtown area.
Restaurant Review
Atmosphere and Decor
The atmosphere was calming due to the dim lights, but It was lively in there! We were one of three large groups celebrating that night and, trust me, we are a loud bunch. It's a wine bar so there was music playing in the background - Burlington needs more of these kinds of places.
Menu
The cocktail menu was reminiscent of landmark spots in downtown Burlington and Village Square. Nadia tried the Spa in the Village - for all the gin lovers out there. She highly recommends it ;). Tanisha had a glass of prosecco, Angie had wine (red, of course) and Jenn had vodka, water and bar lime.
Angie had the Korean Fried Cauliflower for an appetizer and the pan-roasted salmon as her main. She loved the KFC - it was an explosion of flavour in her mouth, like BAM!
Tanisha and Jenn each had the steak frites. It came with truffle fries which was a bonus and the peppercorn sauce was to die for. Angie (the pescatarian of the group) was surprised to learn that this was simply steak and fries! She thought, for sure, there had to be more to it LOL!
As an appetizer, Jenn had the crab cakes which was one of the specials of the night. They were delicious! Jenn didn't ask about the price though....lets just say the appetizer cost almost as much as the main course!
Nadia had the roasted chicken with the fingerling potatoes. It was good but the sauce on the chicken was a tad salty for her liking. This one is for the salt-lovers out there LOL.
Service
Angie:
When I arrived to the restaurant, I was met by a nice gentleman and a pleasant hostess, who directed me up the stairs to our table and then offered to take my jacket. The hostess came back with a number and told me to keep it for safe keeping.
There was another large party of women who were also dressed to the nines and had amazing outerwear. When it was time for them to leave, their waiter brought their jackets and they all took them, one by one.
On my way back from my many rounds to the bathroom, I noticed a jacket that looked very familiar, I walked up to take a peak, just in case, and I noticed that it was my jacket, sitting alone on a chair in the dark. Thankfully, I found it and scooped it up real quick!
What do you do in this situation??
P.S. I still have my ticket...
